Pumpkin cookies and a reunion
I got a call the other night from my college roomate Mary saying she was in the area and wanted to get together. Shamefully, we hadn't seen each other in 17 years. Kids, schedules, and geographic distance played a big part in our not being able to connect. But 17 years? Like I said - shameful.
Of course, there needed to be cookies for my long lost bestie.
With it being the first of October, it was time to bust out the first of my halloween cookies and use my two new pumpkin cutters.
What I really wanted to make for Mary was a batch of Rosanne Rosanadana cookies in honor of her most memorable halloween costume in college. She was HILARIOUS as Gilda Radner, and stayed in character all night long.
But alas, I didn't have the time for that, so I had to make do with pumpkins.
Think of these as my version of the black and white cookie for halloween.
Probably my best halloween costume was the year I went as a witch. I had the usual cape and black hat on for most of the party, but I had a surprise under my hat. My hair was long, and I put a plastic cup on top of my head and gathered my hair up and around it and pony tailed and hair sprayed the living daylights out of it. You couldn't see the cup at all, and it looked like my hair stood straight up in the shape of the witches hat. I then put the hat carefully on top of the hair and tied it underneath my chin.
About mid way through the party, I said "wow, it's getting hot in here, I need to take my hat off". Off it came, the hair unveiled, and the look on everyone's faces was priceless. My one great moment in comedy.
Who says a witch can't have a stylish updo?
So Rosanne Rosanadana and the the well coiffed witch laughed and hugged and cried their way through lunch yesterday. And you can bet it won't be another 17 years before we see each other again. Because if it is, we will have to be meeting up on our hover rounds...

You have some serious talent here!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely story. Both of your costumes sound like they were smash hits. A girl I knew dressed as a mandrake once and did the same thing with her hair around a bottle, but kept it exposed and added moss and other things. Hilarious.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous cookies as always!
I would love to be able to decorate cookies like this. The Black Hat Society cookies are wonderful!
ReplyDeleteYour cookies are simply amazing.
